How to Configure Google Workspace & Gmail Mailer in Icegram Express

Max

Connect Google Workspace or Gmail to Icegram Express via the official Gmail API with OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Using the Google Workspace / Gmail mailer in Icegram Express connects your website directly to Google’s mail servers through the secure Gmail API using OAuth 2.0, eliminating the need to expose raw email passwords.

Part 1: Create a Project in Google Cloud Console

  1. Navigate to the Google Cloud Console and sign in with the Google Workspace or Gmail account you intend to send emails from.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click the project selector dropdown and click New Project.
  3. Name your project (e.g., Icegram Email Mailer) and click Create.
  4. With your new project selected, go to APIs & Services > Library.
  5. Search for Gmail API, click on it, and click Enable.
  1. In the sidebar, go to APIs & Services > OAuth consent screen.
  2. Select External (or Internal if using Google Workspace for organizational users only) and click Create.
  3. Fill in the required app details:
    • App name: e.g., Icegram Express Mailer
    • User support email: Select your email address.
    • Developer contact information: Enter your email address.
  4. Click Save and Continue through the Scopes step (no custom scopes needed).
  5. Under Publishing status, click Make External / Publish App and confirm to switch the status to In production (this prevents OAuth tokens from expiring after 7 days).

Part 3: Create OAuth 2.0 Credentials

  1. In the Google Cloud sidebar, go to APIs & Services > Credentials.
  2. Click Create Credentials > OAuth client ID.
  3. In the Application type dropdown, select Web application.
  4. Under Authorized redirect URIs, click + Add URI.
  5. Copy the Redirect URI displayed in your WordPress dashboard under Icegram Express > Settings > Email Sending (typically https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=es_settings) and paste it into Google Cloud.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Copy your generated Client ID and Client Secret.

Part 4: Connect Icegram Express to Google

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Icegram Express > Settings > Email Sending.
