“If you cannot catch a fish, do not blame the sea.”

– Greek proverb

Hi,

Launching a website is easy but driving consistent traffic is an ongoing, difficult task.

The most common ways website owners try to fetch traffic are:

– Social media

– Video hosting

– Bookmarking sites

– Traditional PDF submissions

Sadly, if you look at the ongoing trend, the traffic provided by these sources is slowly dying.

But don’t worry, I’ve got your back 😉

I did some research over the weekend and found out five underrated sources that can help you drive consistent and quality traffic.

5 sources for consistent and quality traffic

SEO is still the reigning king for getting quality traffic. Forum traffic was great a few years back and guest blogging is still a good option to get decent traffic at present.

Apart from the above traditional traffic sources, you should try the following content distribution channels

  1. News aggregator sites: Submit your blog to news aggregator sites like Google News, Apple News, Feedly, Flipboard and more to get discovered.
  2. Reddit: Join an industry-relevant subreddit, get some karma and publish your content to huge targeted audiences.
  3. Medium: Sites like Medium.com and Vocal.media have at least 100 million monthly active users. Publish your content on these platforms and it will help you drive quality traffic.
  4. TikTok: Short video content performs well which leads the bite-sized video app to reach billions of people in a shorter period. Create quick video content and attract visitors to your website.
  5. Instant messaging apps: Join Slack communities & Discord servers related to your niche and earn niche-specific readers for your website. Make sure you don’t spam and break community rules.

Some of the other website traffic acquisition methods are creating a course and publishing them on Udemy or Skillshare with a strong call to action. Podcasts work for a few people but both requires a lot of energy and time to get started.

Have you ever tried any of these techniques to drive traffic to your website or do you have any interesting channels which worked well for you?
