“Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know”

Jim Rohn

Howdy there,

As Seth Godin wisely said, “Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make, but about the stories you tell.” Nowhere is this truer than in the world of email marketing.

Most of our inboxes are a mess! It’s crammed with bills, endless sales pitches, and the occasional “You’ve won a million dollars!” email (yeah, right!).

But you know what?

Every now and then, I’ll come across an enjoyable email. It could be funny, has a good story, or makes me feel like they get me.

Those emails remind me why email marketing is still a big deal.

It’s not just about pushing products, it’s about connecting with people.

It’s about sharing something that resonates, building relationships, and making someone’s day a little brighter.

I’m going to share some email marketing examples that “Wowed” me lately:

Emails that urge us to read

The “We’re Besties Now” Email from Wool and the Gang

These guys are masters at speaking their customer’s language. Their emails feel like a chat with your BFF, complete with fun GIFs and a conversational tone. It’s like they’re reading your mind and knowing exactly what you need (a new sweater pattern, perhaps?).

What can you steal from them for your next email?

  • Use gifs and stand out

  • Keep it casual. Just like you are talking to your friend.

The “Oops, We Messed Up (But in a Cute Way)” Email from Function of Beauty

Remember when you accidentally used too much shampoo and your hair was a tangled mess? Function of Beauty sent an email that was basically an apology letter to your hair. It was funny, relatable, and totally on brand. Plus, it made me want to buy their hair mask (oops, their marketing worked!).

What can you steal for your next email?

  • Apologize for your customer’s pain points

  • Offer a solution in a light hearted way.

The “You Won’t Believe What’s Inside!” Email from Boxycharm

This subscription box company knows how to create anticipation. They use animated arrows and mysterious wording to make you scroll down and discover the surprise waiting for you at the bottom. It’s like a mini treasure hunt in your inbox!

What can you steal for your next email?

  • Create a sense of intrigue and mystery to build excitement

  • Use surprising elements like ‘find the treasure’ or ‘spin the wheel’ to increase engagement.

Email Strategies That Work

  • Though the above emails have different goals and call to action, they all have something in common. They all have some common strategies: Emails with a compelling story or that evoke strong emotions to create a powerful connection with readers.

  • Tailoring content based on my subscriber preferences and behaviors to enhance relevance and engagement.

  • Incorporating quizzes, polls, or interactive videos to encourage engagement and increase click-through rates.

P.S. Writing great content is key but the email-sending tool you use can give you that extra oomph. We at Icegram Express strive to provide our customers with beautiful, engaging email templates, personalization, and other key features.

Some More Inspiration…

Before you go, let me share about the recent book I read- Hack the Entrepreneur by Jon Nastor.

This book is a treasure trove. And here are the three gems I picked up that I think you’ll love:

  • Solve Real Problems: Focus on real issues instead of waiting for the perfect idea.

  • Embrace Failure:Use failures as learning opportunities.

  • Prioritize Tasks:Break down tasks and focus on high-impact activities.

These tips hit home for me, and I think they’ll resonate with you too.

What are some of your favorite email marketing examples? Hit reply and let me know! I’m always looking for new inspiration.

Until next time, keep those emails awesome!
